A word from our spokesperson. |

A Show for all of your home projects! As soon as we start thinking about home renovations, all kinds of exciting ideas pop into our heads, but when the time comes to put these ideas into action, the number of decisions facing us can often become overwhelming. That’s why I suggest you begin by jotting down all of your dreams and ideas. Then, over the Holiday Season, set aside a little time to identify your priorities and above all plan a budget. You still have three months to prepare for your visit to the National Home Show.
Draw your inspiration from home décor magazines and television shows, and take the time to meet with a few experts to help you with your plans. Establish your needs, and draft a list of questions you’d like to ask during your visit to the Show.
By arriving well prepared, you’ll make the most of your time and ensure you’re stopping at the kiosks that can be of greatest use to you. Did you know that more than 1,500 specialists will be on hand to advise visitors this year? Maybe you’re not yet sure which project you should take on. No worries…the Show is sure to inspire you!
I’ll admit it—I’m a renovation fanatic. After having renovated our entire house, landscaping included (which you can see on Canal Vie in the spring), I’m now about to turn my sights to our cottage!
This year once again, I am delighted to be the spokesperson for the Montreal National Home Show, and I’ll be on site to share my passion for renovation with you from March 16 to 25, 2012. In the meantime, get to work on your project ideas!
Happy Holidays!

designer and spokesperson for the 33rd edition of the National Home Show. |

The Holiday season makes for beautiful Ho Ho Homes!

Toys really do grow on trees!

Elegance defined

by Béatrix Marik,
Head of cross-platform content, Les idées de ma Maison

In December, some fly off to warmer climes to escape the trappings, rush or even melancholy that the Holiday Season can bring. It’s important to understand and respect these choices. Then there are those who immerse themselves completely in the Christmas spirit. These are the folks who can’t wait to get their baking started so that they can share their treats with friends and colleagues. They decorate early and with gusto, enthusiastically reaping the rewards of their efforts and bringing joy to their loved ones. Outside, their homes are brightly lit and adorned, and the wonderful aroma of evergreens and simmering winter fare wafts through the indoors. Favourite target areas for decorations include the banister, mantel (for those with a fireplace), and of course the Christmas tree. Ah, the tree: so many possibilities. It can be decorated along a theme of colour, festooned with festive gourmet treats such as pretzels, chocolates and candy, or trimmed to reflect the family’s passion for birds, music, or even hockey. All that matters is that it be a labour of love. This year, a special magazine published by the group that brings you Les idées de ma maison will focus on a dream Christmas and feature the following interiors.
We’re sure you’ll be inspired!
All decked out
Dramatic white feathers, evergreen cuttings, toy soldiers, oversized ribbons, and stunning ornaments decorate the banister from early December to early January, boldly conveying the spirit of the season. Pure joy.
Toys really do grow on trees!
Perfectly shaped, this Christmas tree is an enormous toy in itself, hinting at the excitement that lies ahead.
Elegance defined
Less is more. A single garland adorned with a large ribbon complete with regularly spaced bows and Christmas tree ornaments turns a mantelpiece into a showpiece, setting the stage for an intimate tête-à-tête perhaps.
